Bromeliad Mosquito Repellent
Use around the garden and in the middle of bromeliads.
500ml Sunlight liquid (dishwashing)
200ml of Household Cloudy Ammonia
100ml of Citronella or Pine-o-Clean disinfectant
Pour the contents into 5 litres of cold water.
As the mixture is very concentrated use only at 2 to 4 tablespoons per 1 Liter of water in your sprayer or watering can.
It can also be mixed with liquid fertilizer and can be used weekly if desired.
Powdery Mildew Spray
Mix together 1-part milk to 10 parts water.
Apply every 7 – 10 days.
Sooty Mold on Citrus Trees
1 Tbsp. B/soda
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 Tbsp. dishwashing liquid
Mix into 1 Litre of water spray both sides of leaves.
Seaweed & Garlic Spray
Soak a bulb of garlic in 1 Litre of water for approx. 4-5 days.
Mix this with 10 Litres of water.
For spraying add 50mls of liquid seaweed concentrate.
(Make up the seaweed concentrate as described)
Ferns – Epsom Salts
Works wonders on ferns as a liquid fertilizer helping the leaves have a rich, deep dark green color. Elephant ear plants are another plant which benefits from the extra magnesium. Apply as a drench mixing 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts to 3.8 litres of water.
Aphid Spray
Place 2 crushed Garlic cloves in 570ml of water use this to spray on plants.
Organic Weed Spray
2 litres white vinegar
1 cup salt
1 Tbsp. dishwashing liquid
Mix together and use.
(Be aware that too much use may change the soil condition and effect plants due to over use of salt.)
Yarrow/Milfoil Copper Spray
Infusing Place 1-1/2 handfuls of fresh herbs or 25g of dried into a heatproof container (not aluminum or copper). Bring 570ml distilled water to the boil.
Pour over the herbs immediately, cover with lid to prevent the loss of any volatile elements through evaporation. Steep for at least 30 minutes.
Strain & store in a refrigerator for up to 3 days.
